Tips and tricks for your Virtual Events

After waiting several months to decide on what the Christmas party is going to look like in 2020, most Corporate clients have decided to go down the virtual event route as it is more than likely that large or even small gatherings will not be permitted to go ahead in the traditional form of food, drinks, dancing and partying late into the night with colleagues.
With so many corporate companies choosing to let teams work from home during the pandemic, never has it been so important that the link between colleagues and managers is kept alive via video platforms and offer them a way of celebrating Christmas, Halloween or just a regular once a month catch up together. Amongst all of the companies that we work with, most have admitted that they are not missing the morning & evening commute but they do miss the camaraderie and craic of being with each other in the office everyday so providing a really fun environment brings back the sense of being together, enjoying each other’s company again and most of all letting ones hair down in a fun and informal setting.
Having several virtual events under our belts now, we want to share with you tips and advice to choosing the right virtual event for you and your colleagues.
Tips
It’s important to treat this as you would a normal event such as sending a well-designed invitation to the teams in advance of the event as this sets the scene for the event and creates a buzz for the evening.
Be open to any day of the week to run a virtual Christmas party as nobody needs to get home to bed that night nor do they have to get up extra early to get themselves into the office. Feedback from recent client tell us that company employees are more eager to do a virtual event from their homes mid-week as this frees them up on Fridays and weekends for friends and family and without the commute in the morning to do, you can now consider your Christmas party any day of the week.
Have a few breaks in between virtual events and give yourselves some time for a possible speech or some chit chat with colleagues, just as you would at the drinks reception at your annual Christmas party.
- Use the event to get everyone together in one space, all at the same time to give them any updates from the company or indeed speeches or announcements.
- Looking at the demographic profile of the group is very important as choosing a virtual event to suit the group is paramount.
- Arranging a party hamper to match the occasion, the team and the virtual event is key. Having a surprise party hamper arrive to all participants door in time for the event creates that feeling of excitement for the event ahead. The party hamper that can be enjoyed while doing your virtual event can include treats, drinks, novelty items such as fun glasses, feather boas or silly costumes & accessories. A great ice breaker and a welcomed and appreciated gesture made by the company. Check out our range of Party Hampers here.
